Undergraduate Student Research Projects

Details of all undergraduate research projects under Heather M.-L. Miller's supervision.  

All projects were completed by senior students in Anthropology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, except where noted.


 

2024 - 2025    Zachary Buck   Quantifying Iconographic Relationships of Gobekli Tepe and the Tas Tepeler. Research paper. (University of Toronto St. George student.)


2023 - 2024    Hailey Moon   Cultural connections in the production of medieval Fennoscandian textiles - archaeological and experimental perspectives. Research paper.   Also paper presentation at UTM Anthropology Society Conference in April 2024.


2023 May    Scholars-in-Residence Program, Jackman Humanities Institute, https://www.humanities.utoronto.ca/sir/about-sir/what-sir, intensive research training & projects in Experimental Archaeology topics of their choice for five junior and senior students from a variety of backgrounds and U of T campuses:
Valentina Guzman-Martinez: Nahua (Aztec) Feather-working
Megan Hoang: Hemp Fabric Production & Dyes in Early Dynastic China (continued research as occasional paid work through summer and fall)
Fallon Hunt: European Upper Paleolithic Antler Harpoons (replication)
Hailey Moon: Sami and Norse Weaving in Medieval Fennoscandia
Lisa Wolff: Roles of Dogs in Predynastic Egypt

Oral presentation and pop-up museum displays at UTM Jackman Scholars-in-Residence final event, end May 2023; Hoang continued research and presented with Masters student collaborator at UofT Anthropology Medusa conference in March 2024.
