Welcome to the Household-level Urban Socio-Ecology (HOUSE) Laboratory, Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment, University of Toronto Mississauga. Tenley Conway and her lab group focus on research examining human-environmental interactions in urban, suburban, and exurban landscapes. We draw on insights from environmental geography, urban forestry, and landscape ecology to improve our understanding of relationships between people, policy, built form, and the physical environment in metropolitan areas. The research is driven by questions surrounding the ecology of human-dominated landscapes and the efficacy of current management approaches. We use a diversity of methodologies that often include GIS, remote sensing, statistical analyses, surveys, interviews, and historic data analysis.
