DR. RADHA MAHARAJ (AKA DR. M)

Dr. Radha Maharaj (Dr. M) is an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, Mississauga (UTM). Dr. M teaches finance and is currently engaged in project Elly. Project Elly is the name given to the research project entitled: Establishing the Level of Financial Literacy of the Student Body to Assist in Developing Appropriate Pedagogical Methods to Ensure Active Student Engagement. Project Elly has three components; a survey, interviews and a competition. The survey investigates the level of financial literacy at the UTM campus as well as the fears and concerns that students have about their level of debt and money management on the whole. The interviews allow students an opportunity to voice their concerns or share their experience with personal finance management. The Elly competition bridges the arts and finance in a way that students can easily engage and connect.

Dr. M is also the author of The Kidonomics Series (TKS). TKS is a book series which focuses on teaching young children the appropriate behavioral traits which are essential for successful money management. The goal of TKS is to make these fundamental skills ingrained in early childhood. This lays the foundation for effective decision making and financial success later on in life.
