Book of Fame is a spin-off project of Digital Tools for Manuscript Study, an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation-funded research project jointly carried out by the Old Books, New Science lab in the Centre for Medieval Studies and Information & Instructional Technology Services (I&ITS) at the University of Toronto. Under the direction of Professor Alexandra Gillespie, our team conducts conceptual and prototyping exercises in the gamification of digital manuscript repositories, integrating the IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) application programming interface into a video game development engine with the intention of broadening and simplifying access to digital art repositories around the world. Our research presents scholars and consumers alike with a new and innovative means of interacting with otherwise inaccessible cultural heritage artifacts. We are pleased to announce that the Book of Fame 3D Book Viewer prototype is now available for download! Please use the navigation menu above to access the latest build of the prototype, which has been compiled for as stand-alone applications for Mac OS X and Windows. Developers may also access the source files for the prototype by checking out the repositories on our Github. We always welcome feedback on the prototype, either via e-mail or on Twitter. |
