Welcome to the Remote Sensing and Spatial Ecosystem Modeling laboratory (the RSSEM Lab) at the Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment, University of Toronto Mississauga. Our lab has established several research programs spanning large-scale field/lab/space level data collection and processing in Canadian grasslands, wetlands, and hardwood forests. This was possible through success in major grant applications from various internal and external sources, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation (ORF), Ontario Early Researcher Award (ERA), UofT Connaught New Researcher Award, National Capital Commission, Natural Research Canada’s ecoENERGY Innovative Initiative, and Ministry of Natural Resources Species at Risk program et al. Our lab has also established research collaborations in a networking environment at the national and international levels. Please contact us if you are interested in field and flight campaigns, remote sensing image processing, species identification and classification, change detection, ecosystem process modeling, habitat suitability modelling, or up-scaling methodologies for vegetation biochemical and biophysical parameters retrieval.
